Darkstorm's Leader Ceremony (For Bloom)

Mothermouth was dark and gloomy, and only a small patch of light separated the border between pitch black and black. A spirit swept through the cavern, leaving a faint trail of sparkling stars. The spirit, who happened to be Splitstar, ShadowClan's former leader who had died of greencough, was awaiting something, or rather, someone. As pawsteps echoed down the dark corridor of stone, the spirit swirled once and disappeared. The trail of stars faded, leaving only the hole in the cavern to filter light through. As a living cat padded into the cave, the stone in the middle immediately glowed a blinding blue. It looked as if the moon itself had squeezed through the small hole in the top of the cavern and settled itself in the crystal.

"We are here," came Nightsplotch's voice as he reached the moonstone. The blue light reflected in his eyes. The Shadowclan medicine cat sat down, admiring the beauty of the stone. "All you have to do is touch your nose to the stone, Darkstorm. I'll be here the whole time," he said.


Darkstorm nodded, a bit nervous. Though he was attracted to the moonstone, he was a bit scared of it. Cautiously, he padded forward and pressed his nose against the cold, hard, glowing rock and he couldn't move. Then, the next thing he knew he was opening his eyes. He was in a field of grass and it was night, the sky shining with stars. Nine cats came down from the sky and stood before the tom. He crouched down in fear, eyes staring at the group as they spoke.

The first cat was a very familiar one. It was Splitstar. "Greetings, Darkstorm." Splitstar's rumbling mew sounded. "I'm here to grant you your first life, the life of wisdom. Choose your paths wisely, friend." he mewed, dipping his head and touching his nose to Darkstorm's.

Darkstorm trembled a little as his dead leader touched his nose with his own. "Yes, Splitstar, I will."

The second cat was a dark brown-and-cream she-cat. Her fur was lined with stars, and her eyes didn't twinkle as they used to. However, the amber orbs still held their happiness. "Hello, Darkstorm!" Sassy's voice was as soft as the breeze blowing on the moor they were standing on. "Your second life is one of love." she mewed with a sad smile on her face, touching her nose to his.

Darkstorm smiled, accepting the life with glowing pride. "Thank you, it's nice to see you again," the tom purred.

Driftingheart gave a smile and a dip of her head before fading, just as Splitstar did. Before she was fully faded, she purred, "I still love you, Darkstorm..." Then she was gone.

The third cat was Whitefeet. Her blue eyes that were so full of mischief when she walked the earth were staring Darkstorm in the eyes playfully. " 'Ello, Darkstorm!" she purred, whiskers twitching at the pride on her friend's face. "Your third life is one of responsibility. Know when to be serious and when not to..." Her voice trailed off and she dipped her nose to the deputy's. "Goodbye, my friend..." She began to slowly fade, seeming to be waiting for Darkstorm before she fully disappeared.
